Job Description
Athletic trainers work with athletes to help prevent injuries. They show athletes exercises that strengthen their bodies in places that may be easily injured. Athletic trainers work with team physicians and coaches to develop programs for each individual athlete. Athletic trainers try to prevent injuries. They tape body joints such as knees, ankles, and elbows before athletes play in order to reduce the chances of injury. Because damaged equipment may cause injuries, trainers check equipment regularly. They also examine new equipment before it is purchased to ensure that it is safe and well made. Trainers plan exercises designed to strengthen athletes and improve their physical condition. These helps athletes play better and makes them stronger so their bodies can resist injuries.
Education
Helpful High School Courses
Students should take courses that meet college entrance requirements. Helpful high school courses would include Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Psychology.
Education Needed
They need 800 hours of experience need in a sports clinic, This training must be carried out under the supervision of a National Athletic Trainers' Association certified athletic trainer in an approved clinical program. Graduate training programs require students to complete all of the above requirements plus additional practicum hours and clinical training.
